He [Mawlana Shaykh Nazim] went with African shaykhs to visit Muhammad Ali in his hotel. He [Muhammad Ali] asked all of the African Shaykhs for bay'ah and Mawlana said, "I will give you bay'ah" and the African shaykhs said, "Mawlana Shaykh Nazim [is the] only one who can give bay'ah to a lion like you."

Mawlana said he took bay'ah on his knees. Mawlana also said he paid for the eid prayer. This was late '70s at Highbury stadium. We used to pray eid prayers in the middle of the dog racing track where Sainsburys is in Haringey. Mawlana used to rent it for eid prayers Masha'Allah Muhammad Ali used to pay for the rent.
